SEC Freezes Approval of Nasdaq QBTC Bitcoin Options, Will Re-Review CME Challenge

Odaily Planet Daily News: The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has frozen the approval of Nasdaq's QBTC bitcoin options in order to re-examine the decision after CME Group filed a legal challenge.
CME Group argues that since bitcoin is a commodity, options linked to its value should fall under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), not the SEC.
The approval remains suspended while the SEC reviews the dispute, and relevant parties may submit comments before August 24.
