Bitcoin will undergo the eCash hard fork on August 21

2026-07-23 10:15

Odaily Planet Daily News In April this year, Bitcoin developer Paul Sztorc announced that the Bitcoin eCash hard fork would be activated at block height 963,648 (approximately August 21), and a new chain named eCash would be launched. At the same time, eCash will airdrop the eCash network token ECX at a 1:1 ratio to all addresses holding Bitcoin before block height 963,648. No registration or pre-claim is required, but users must transfer BTC to the eCash self-custodial wallet. As of now, support for this hard fork within the Bitcoin community is also low.

It is worth noting that in August, Bitcoin will also undergo the BIP-110 soft fork. At block height 961,632 (approximately August 7), BIP-110 will enter the enforcement period, and at block height 963,648 (approximately September 1), the BIP-110 soft fork will be officially activated.
