Democratic Senator Angela Alsobrooks Opposes White House's Proposed Clarity Act Ethics Clause Details
Odaily Planet Daily News Crypto journalist Eleanor Terrett posted on X platform, stating that Democratic Senator Angela Alsobrooks has told her that the White House's proposal to have the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) enforce the ethics clauses in the Clarity Act is an "unserious offer," and she will not support the bill if this becomes the only enforcement mechanism.
Alsobrooks also said, "But we will continue to work on this basis, striving to reach an agreement that holds all relevant parties accountable."
Alsobrooks is one of two Democratic senators who voted in May to advance the Clarity Act through the Senate Banking Committee. She previously stated that her continued support for the bill would depend on whether the final text includes strong ethics enforcement provisions.
Currently, the two parties are discussing the Clarity Act on Capitol Hill, with the ethics issue seen as the final obstacle to reaching a compromise.
