South Korea to Expand Public Growth Fund to 200 Trillion Won, Focusing on Aerospace and Advanced Technology
Odaily Planet Daily News South Korea’s Financial Services Commission (FSC) plans to expand the operating scale of the “Public Growth Fund” from 150 trillion won to 200 trillion won, and extend its investment scope to include sectors such as aerospace. According to a policy briefing, the FSC will increase the annual operating scale of the fund from the current 30 trillion won to 40 trillion won, aiming for a total operating scale of 200 trillion won over the next five years. The scope of recipients will also be expanded from the existing 12 high-tech industries (semiconductors, displays, AI, biotechnology, vaccines, robotics, future mobility, defense, secondary batteries, hydrogen, critical minerals, and content industries) to include emerging strategic sectors such as aerospace.
In particular, long-term growth funds will be concentrated on three major projects: semiconductors, AI data centers (AIDC), and Physical AI. (Jin Shi)
