According to Odaily, Iraq's border port management department said on the 2nd that 70 oil tankers loaded with crude oil entered Syria from Iraq through the Rabia border crossing that day. This marks Iraq's reactivation of this land-based oil transport route after a 13-year hiatus. The Rabia border crossing is located in the Nineveh Governorate in northwestern Iraq and had been largely closed since the outbreak of the Syrian civil war in 2011, only reopening in April this year. The crossing is not far from the oil fields in Mosul and Kirkuk in northern Iraq.
