Multiple Hong Kong Stock Connect ETFs saw significantly increased trading volume; institutional figures: insurance funds may be buying
Odaily News: On September 21, the trading volume of multiple Hong Kong Stock Connect ETFs (Southbound) included in the mutual market access mechanism increased significantly compared with before. Wind data shows that Southern East-West Select (3441) recorded a trading volume of HKD 339 million today, while this ETF's daily trading volume had remained below HKD 100 million for the past three months; Ping An Technology Select (3406) and Ping An East-West Select (3477) both recorded trading volumes exceeding HKD 100 million today, both hitting historic highs, with trading volume increasing substantially.
A person from an institution said that some insurance institutions have recently received notices on relevant detailed rules and may have begun buying Hong Kong Stock Connect ETFs included in the mutual market access mechanism, and other insurance institutions may follow suit. Industry insiders believe that with the entry of insurance funds, the investor structure of Southbound ETFs is expected to become further diversified, bringing more long-term capital to the market, enhancing market activity, and further strengthening Hong Kong's important role as a hub for cross-border asset allocation.
