This AI-driven attack took approximately 60 hours and had a computational cost of around $100,000, reducing the workload required to break HAWK's minimum parameter set from about 2^64 operations to 2^38 operations, and lessening the appeal of larger compensating key sizes.
Current Bitcoin and Ethereum signatures remain unaffected. The results indicate that the capability for classical cryptanalysis attacks is increasing, while Bitcoin and other networks are still discussing when and how to migrate to quantum-resistant cryptography.
