U.S. Senate may not pass the CLARITY Act before summer recess, cooling prospects for legislation this year

U.S. Senate Majority Leader John Thune stated that the CLARITY Act may not be able to achieve final passage before the summer recess, but hopes to at least initiate floor consideration before the break.

Previously, the industry viewed August 7 as a critical window for passing the bill this year. If it is postponed until autumn, the likelihood of completing legislation by 2026 may decrease. White House crypto advisor Patrick Witt said the Senate could still advance relevant procedures in the first week of August, but the possibility of the CLARITY Act reaching a final vote in July is low.
