American intelligence agencies' latest assessment: Pessimistic outlook on a new round of strikes against Iran

2026-07-21 03:15

Odaily Planet Daily News: American intelligence journalist John Hudson stated that the US intelligence community's assessment shows a pessimistic outlook on a new round of military strikes against Iran. Current and former officials indicated that these strikes are unlikely to have a major impact on Iran or soften its negotiating stance. According to US intelligence analysts, Tehran and Washington are locked in an indefinite stalemate between war and peace, a situation made unsettling by the increasingly deadly tit-for-tat hostilities between the two countries.

Furthermore, they pointed out that intelligence assessments like the one on Iran are not intended to make specific predictions about the future. Instead, they are summaries of current and potential future trends based on all available classified intelligence (including human espionage and technical collection) as well as open-source materials.
