Japanese stocks closed down 4%, South Korean markets closed

The Nikkei 225 index fell 2,694.42 points, or 4.03%, on Friday, July 17, closing at 64,141.12 points. It briefly dropped 6% during the session, falling below 63,000 points. Japan's Topix index closed down 2.72%. Among individual stocks, Kioxia fell 16%, SoftBank fell 8.5%, and Advantest fell 8%. The South Korean stock market was closed today.
