BIT exchange launches US stock short-selling function, enabling two-way long and short trading of US stocks

2026-07-13 06:01

Odaily Planet Daily News Following the recent launch of margin trading, BIT (formerly Matrixport) today announced the official launch of its US stock short-selling (short) function, marking a key milestone in completing the two-way long and short trading ecosystem for its securities brokerage business. This provides investors with tools for hedging risks and profiting flexibly in a volatile market, while laying sufficient infrastructure for the upcoming options trading.

Commenting on this business upgrade, Elio Cui, Head of BIT Securities, stated: "With the launch of short-selling, BIT Securities has become one of the very few trading platforms in the industry that simultaneously supports margin trading, short-selling, and options layout within a real US stock framework. Our product planning has been benchmarked against the complete traditional brokerage investment experience from the very beginning. Within a single account, users can seamlessly transition between long and short allocations and risk hedging, navigating different market cycles with greater capital efficiency."

After the launch of this function, users of BIT's comprehensive account (margin account) who meet the initial margin requirements can proceed to short-sell designated US stocks. The platform will dynamically update key risk control indicators in real-time, including margin rates, stock borrowing costs, and short-selling pool limits, to ensure transparency and efficiency in trading.

As an important part of perfecting its US stock brokerage services, BIT also reminds investors that short-selling transactions involve market risks and are subject to factors such as market volatility, stock borrowing costs, and interest rate fluctuations. The platform will dynamically adjust the list of stocks available for shorting based on market liquidity and risk control policies, providing qualified short-selling opportunities for US stocks within a robust and secure framework.

To coincide with the introduction of the new service, BIT Securities is launching a limited-time "0 fee" promotional offer.
