Polygon Founder: Network officially enters deflationary state, with over 107 million POL tokens burned this year

Odaily Planet Daily reported that Polygon founder Sandeep shared data on X platform, revealing that from the beginning of 2026 to the present, Polygon has newly minted approximately 105.2 million POL tokens, while the amount of POL burned through the base fee mechanism has reached approximately 107.7 million tokens. The amount burned exceeds the new issuance, marking the Polygon network's official achievement of an annual net deflationary state. Sandeep added that the reduction in POL supply primarily stems from base fee burns due to Polygon handling high transaction volumes as a payment chain. In May, Polygon processed a higher transaction volume than other public chains, recording 198 million transactions during the single month.
