Odaily Planet Daily News: Reuters today (June 14) quoted a senior Iranian official as saying that, according to a draft memorandum of understanding with the United States, Tehran has agreed not to produce or acquire nuclear weapons. Pending a final agreement, Iran has agreed to maintain its nuclear status quo, including refraining from uranium enrichment or expanding nuclear facilities. Under the draft, the United States has agreed to Tehran's dilution of its stockpile of highly enriched uranium, with relevant mechanisms to be discussed within the next 60 days. The U.S. will waive oil sanctions on Iran for a specific period, allowing Iran to sell oil and receive revenue. Iran will immediately reopen the Strait of Hormuz to all commercial vessels, while the U.S. will lift the maritime blockade. The U.S. has agreed to unblock $25 billion in Iranian assets, including through direct cash transfers, cooperation with regional countries, and credit lines. Additionally, according to the draft, the U.S. has agreed not to impose any new sanctions on Iran until a final agreement is reached. (CCTV International News)
