G7 officials: US-Iran memorandum of understanding could be signed as early as Sunday
Odaily Planet Daily News G7 officials said the US-Iran memorandum of understanding could be signed as early as Sunday in Geneva.
Andrea Deci, a lecturer in international relations at the Italian American University, said U.S. President Donald Trump is seeking a "face-saving exit" to end the war with Iran, which has become a "strategic disaster."
Deci noted: "Trump's erratic behavior on social media reflects divisions within the administration. The signals from the past few hours are positive, and we hope this will push toward a breakthrough, but the situation could still change rapidly." He said the leaked final document shows Trump may have abandoned some of his earlier demands to reach an agreement.
Deci added: "At the same time, we need to be cautious about the related statements, because the U.S. not only has to sell this agreement to its own voters but also to Israel." (Jinshi)
