Bitcoin kidnapping and carjacking accomplice pleads guilty, faces up to 20 years in prison
Odaily Planet Daily News The U.S. Department of Justice stated that Saif Faiq has pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges in a Bitcoin-related kidnapping and extortion case, facing a maximum of 20 years in prison, with sentencing scheduled for August 28.
The incident occurred in 2024. Faiq and his brother Adam Iza were accused of plotting to kidnap the parents of a crypto millionaire and recruiting six men from Florida to carry out the operation in Connecticut. The individuals hijacked the victims' Lamborghini Urus in broad daylight, assaulting them and holding them in brief captivity.
The victims were Sushil and Radhika Chetal. Their son, Veer Chetal, had previously been involved in a social engineering fraud case, stealing approximately 4,100 Bitcoin, and has pleaded guilty to the theft. Faiq and his brother have both admitted to conspiring to interfere with commercial activities through robbery.
