Trump will preside over Walsh's swearing-in ceremony at the White House in a high-profile manner
According to a report by Odaily Planet Daily citing the Wall Street Journal, White House officials revealed that Trump will host the swearing-in ceremony for incoming Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Walsh at the White House on Friday. This ceremony underscores Trump's significant emphasis on this appointment. When Trump nominated Powell to lead the Federal Reserve during his first term in 2018, the swearing-in ceremony was held at the Fed, and Trump did not attend. The last Federal Reserve chairman sworn in at the White House was Alan Greenspan, who took office in 1987. All subsequent ceremonies have been held at the Fed. The last president to attend such an event was George W. Bush, who participated in Bernanke's swearing-in ceremony in 2006. Later that same year, Walsh was sworn in as a Federal Reserve governor at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building by Vice President Dick Cheney. This Friday's swearing-in ceremony will bring an end to the unusually lengthy transition process for the Federal Reserve's top leadership. (Jin Shi)
