U.S. energy inflation year-over-year growth rate remains elevated in April

According to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. energy inflation (seasonally adjusted) rose 3.8% month-over-month in April, compared to a 10.9% increase in March; among them, energy commodity inflation rose 5.6% month-over-month, compared to 21.3% previously, gasoline inflation rose 5.4% month-over-month, compared to 21.2% previously, and fuel oil inflation rose 5.8% month-over-month, compared to 30.7% previously. In April, the unadjusted energy inflation rate was 17.9% year-over-year, compared to 12.5% in March; among them, energy commodity inflation was 29.2% year-over-year, gasoline inflation was 28.4% year-over-year, and fuel oil inflation was 54.3% year-over-year.
