The U.S. Senate Banking Committee has announced it will hold a markup hearing for the Clarity Act of 2025, concerning digital asset market transparency, on May 14 at 10:30 a.m. The bill had previously stalled due to disputes over provisions related to stablecoin yield. Recently, Senators Tom Tillis and Angela Alsobrooks reached a compromise proposal to prohibit providing yield on static stablecoin reserves, while allowing rewards on actively used stablecoins.

Although industry groups such as the American Bankers Association continue to express concerns and propose amendments regarding the text, the committee's schedule indicates the legislative process will move forward. Additionally, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand has suggested adding an ethics clause to the bill, prohibiting senior government officials from profiting from the crypto industry while simultaneously regulating it.
