US intelligence report: Iran war may be motive for suspect in Trump dinner shooting
According to Odaily, citing Reuters, a intelligence report sent to state and local law enforcement agencies and other federal agencies across the US, the Department of Homeland Security has listed the US-Israel war with Iran as a potential motive for the suspect in the assassination attempt at last month's White House Correspondents' Dinner. The suspect is accused of plotting to assassinate Trump and senior administration officials. The preliminary assessment report, issued on April 27 by the Department of Homeland Security's Office of Intelligence and Analysis, stated that the suspect, Cole Allen, "harbors multiple social and political grievances." The report determined that the Iran conflict "may have contributed to his decision to carry out the attack," citing Allen's social media posts criticizing US actions in the war. The report, marked as a "significant incident overview," was obtained through a public records request by the transparency nonprofit "Property of the People." (Jinshi)
