US media: US informed Iran in advance about the escort operation and warned Iran not to interfere
Odaily News According to a US official and a source familiar with the matter, a senior official from the Trump administration informed Iran on Sunday about the upcoming US operation to "guide" ships through the Strait of Hormuz and warned Tehran not to intervene. This privately conveyed message indicates that the White House hopes to try to reduce the risk of potential escalation. However, despite the warning, Iran has launched a series of attacks on US Navy vessels, commercial ships, and the United Arab Emirates. On Tuesday, US Defense Secretary and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Caine, downplayed Iran's attacks and claimed that the ceasefire agreement remains in effect. Nonetheless, some US and Israeli officials believe that if the diplomatic stalemate continues, President Trump may order a resumption of the war later this week. (AXIOS website)
