Odaily Planet Daily News: Payment giant PayPal has officially announced a strategic restructuring, simplifying its operations into three core segments: Payment Checkout & PayPal, Consumer Financial Services & Venmo, and Cryptocurrency & Payment Services. Notably, the cryptocurrency and payment services segment has been singled out as a core business unit, integrating payment processing, platform capabilities, and crypto operations, including Braintree, small and medium-sized merchant payment processing, value-added services, and the stablecoin PYUSD. Jeff Pomeroy has been appointed as the interim head of this segment. Analysts suggest that incorporating the crypto business independently into the core operational framework indicates that PayPal is further strengthening its stablecoin PYUSD and digital asset payment ecosystem strategy.
