US media: Trump to Briefed on New Action Plans Against Iran on Thursday, Including Powerful Strikes and Partial Control of the Strait of Hormuz

2026-04-30 02:46

According to Odaily Planet Daily, two sources said that Trump plans to be briefed by U.S. Central Command Commander Brad Cooper on Thursday regarding new plans for potential military action against Iran. This briefing indicates that Trump is seriously considering resuming large-scale combat operations to break the negotiation deadlock or deliver a decisive blow before ending the war. Three sources said the Central Command has prepared a plan for "short and powerful" strikes against Iran, possibly targeting infrastructure. The expectation is that Iran will then show greater flexibility on the nuclear issue and return to the negotiating table. Another plan expected to be presented to Trump involves controlling parts of the Strait of Hormuz to restore commercial shipping passage. One source said such actions could include ground forces. Another option previously discussed and possibly raised in the briefing is to conduct special operations to secure control of Iran's enriched uranium reserves. Cooper provided a similar briefing to Trump on February 26, two days before the U.S. and Israel launched a war against Iran. A person close to Trump said it was that briefing that led Trump to decide to go to war. (Jinshi)
