On Wednesday, U.S. Senate Republicans released the proposed text of the CLARITY Act, whose ethics provisions prohibit all federal officials, including U.S. President Donald Trump, from issuing or sponsoring any digital assets. Democrats believe the relevant ethics provisions are insufficient.
Republican Senator Bernie Moreno denied that the provisions were weak, stating that the draft contains "the most powerful ethical language in American history." Gallego said he will advance a counter-proposal with Senator Thom Tillis and other Republicans and submit a new text of the provisions.
