UK HMRC Recovers Over £8 Million from Hundreds of Crypto Investors in Tax Settlement After Three Years

Odaily reports that the UK's HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has recovered over £8 million in tax payments after three years of cracking down on crypto tax evasion, reaching settlements with hundreds of cryptocurrency investors. According to data obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request, 502 crypto investors have entered into disclosure agreements with HMRC regarding unpaid taxes over the past two years. In the 2024/25 tax year, 280 individuals reached settlements with HMRC, paying a total of £3.5 million. In the 2025/26 tax year, the number of settlements decreased to 222 individuals, but the total amount increased to approximately £4.8 million.
