2050亿美元支出引发担忧,谷歌跌超7%
Odaily Planet Daily News Google (GOOG.O) saw its stock price fall more than 7% on Thursday after raising its capital expenditure forecast for this year from $190 billion to between $195 billion and $205 billion. This serves as a reminder that the full cost of the Silicon Valley AI competition remains largely unaccounted for.
Google is the first major tech company to report quarterly earnings, with Meta, Microsoft, and Amazon set to release their results next week. These four companies previously revealed in April that they would invest a total of up to $725 billion in AI development this year. If Google is any indication, this figure is likely to increase further by the end of next week. Nevertheless, the returns on these investments remain unclear. Senior analyst Thomas Monteiro of the investment firm said, "Google's larger spending plan is 'not satisfactory.' Coupled with the rising interest rate environment and the ongoing supply-demand tension in AI infrastructure, the idea that companies can always rely on cash flow for financing may be gradually losing its appeal."
