Odaily Odaily Planet Daily News As the threat of an escalation in the Iran war pushes up oil prices, U.S. Treasury yields have risen to their highest levels this year, with markets anticipating that the Federal Reserve could raise interest rates as soon as next week. The two-year Treasury yield, which is highly sensitive to Fed policy expectations, rose about 4 basis points on Thursday to around 4.34%, its highest level since early 2025. The ten-year Treasury yield hit a new high for the year, while the thirty-year yield rose to 5.19%, just below the highest level since 2007.

As the Houthis claimed to have attacked a merchant ship for the first time in months, Brent crude oil prices are slowly recovering to $100 per barrel. This increase continues to pressure the U.S. Treasury market and has made traders more inclined to believe that the Federal Reserve under Warsh will raise interest rates soon this year. (Jin Shi)
