Intel to Invest €5 Billion in Expanding Irish Plant

2026-07-13 12:39

Intel (INTC.O) will invest €5 billion (approximately $5.7 billion) to expand its facility in Ireland, as it seeks to regain manufacturing dominance amid the AI boom.

In a statement, Intel said the investment will expand capacity at its Leixlip campus outside Dublin, as part of the company's plan to increase production of data center processors. The expansion will enhance the manufacturing capability for products including its flagship Xeon server processors, while also advancing research and development activities. Intel Executive Vice President Naga Chandrasekaran stated in a release that this move is also part of the plan to improve delivery capabilities for clients of Intel Foundry. Intel Foundry, which manufactures chips for other tech companies, is a key component of the company's turnaround strategy aimed at strengthening competition against rivals such as TSMC. (Jinshi)
