Solana Foundation acquires stake in SBI R3 Japan, which plans to rename to SBI Solana Global

Odaily reported that SBI and the Solana Foundation have announced a strategic partnership to jointly advance the development of Japan's on-chain financial market. Under the agreement, the Solana Foundation will acquire a stake in SBI R3 Japan and work with existing shareholders SBI and Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group to execute a new growth strategy. The company plans to rename itself to SBI Solana Global Co., Ltd. SBI Solana Global will focus on the Solana network to support the issuance and circulation of the JPYSC yen stablecoin and other stablecoins, facilitate the composition and circulation of corporate bonds and tokenized RWAs, build cross-border payment infrastructure, provide on-chain financial services for institutional investors, and develop next-generation payment infrastructure tailored for the AI Agent era.
