OpenAI's Head of Safety, Johannes Heidecke, will be leaving the company
Odaily Planet Daily News: OpenAI Chief Research Officer Mark Chen disclosed in an internal memo that the company's Head of Safety, Johannes Heidecke, will leave the company following an internal restructuring. The safety team will now report directly to Vice President of Research, Mia Glaese. This adjustment signifies that OpenAI will integrate AI safety and research systems with model safety, alignment research, and core R&D efforts under the same management framework. While advancing model capabilities, mitigating potential risks has become a critical issue for both OpenAI and the entire AI industry.
In a previous development, Apple has officially filed a lawsuit against OpenAI, accusing it of stealing trade secrets. Apple alleges that OpenAI and its hardware executive participated in an organized effort to steal information regarding Apple's upcoming products. Apple also claims that OpenAI encouraged Apple employees to share information, components, designs, and other materials related to upcoming products, all part of OpenAI's effort to develop its own suite of devices.
