Iran confirms Qatar's visit, but demands explanation over allegations concerning the Strait of Hormuz
Odaily Odaily A Qatari political delegation arrived in Iran today to hold consultations with Iranian officials. Qatar's visit to Iran aims to solidify its position as a mediator.
However, earlier, Qatar leveled accusations against Iran regarding an incident in the Strait of Hormuz. Subsequently, the U.S. military launched large-scale attacks on a series of Iranian military and civilian targets on Wednesday and Thursday. A spokesperson for our Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed regret over Qatar's allegations, calling them "questionable, contrary to the principles of good neighborliness, and unacceptable."
Therefore, during this visit, Qatar should logically explain: why, despite being fully aware of the content of Article 5 of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, it still attempted to cooperate with the U.S. to bypass the designated shipping routes specified by Iran, and why it rushed to accuse Iran without any prior communication with Tehran.
