US federal deficit reaches approximately $1.4 trillion in first nine months of fiscal year 2026

Odaily Odaily reports that according to the "Monthly Budget Review for June 2026" released by the Congressional Budget Office, the U.S. federal budget deficit totaled approximately $1.4 trillion in the first nine months of fiscal year 2026, an increase of $35 billion compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year. During this period, federal revenue reached $4.2 trillion, an increase of $142 billion, or 4%; while federal spending amounted to $5.5 trillion, up by $178 billion, or 3%.
