温岭警方曝光虚拟货币理财诈骗,受害者20天被骗44.5万元
Odaily Planet Daily News: Wenling Public Security has publicly reported a case of virtual currency investment and financial fraud. The victim, Mr. Cui, met a blogger on a social platform who claimed to be a senior investment mentor, touting virtual currency investments as a surefire way to make money without risk. After making a small initial profit, Mr. Cui was induced to download a fake investment app. Within just 20 days, Mr. Cui deposited a total of 445,000 yuan. When he saw profits on his account and attempted to withdraw, the app became inaccessible, and all the scammers involved had disappeared.
Police remind the public that China has explicitly defined virtual currency-related business activities as illegal financial activities. Any promotional pitch for virtual currency investments promising high returns, guaranteed profits, or no losses constitutes fraud. The public must enhance their awareness of prevention and must not trust online investment mentors they do not know.
