Coinspect discloses wallet vulnerability since 2018; approximately $3.14 million suspected stolen from related wallets last month
Odaily Odaily reports that, according to monitoring by Coinspect Security, by analyzing cryptocurrency wallet seeds generated since 2018 using insecure code, it was found that thousands of seeds had been used in practice. In the past month alone, approximately $3.14 million in suspected stolen funds were discovered in related wallets. Coinspect Security stated that some funds exhibited patterns of being consolidated into a single address and then laundered. One affected address also transferred out $2 million just hours after the advisory was issued, though it is not yet confirmed whether this was theft. Additionally, Coinspect Security specifically warned the Chinese community, indicating that many users whose assets remain at risk are likely located in China.
