Odaily Odaily Planet Daily News: California cryptocurrency executive Adam Iza pleaded guilty on Monday to orchestrating an attempted kidnapping of Veer Chetal's parents. The case is related to a previous theft of 4100 Bitcoin worth approximately $245 million in which Veer Chetal was involved.
Adam Iza, 25, also known as Ahmed Faiq, who operated the crypto trading company Zort and called himself "the Godfather," and others involved, including Veer Chetal, stole 4100 Bitcoin from a Washington resident by impersonating Google and cryptocurrency exchange technical support staff, worth about $245 million at the time. Adam Iza and his accomplices attempted to kidnap Veer Chetal's parents to obtain a portion of the stolen funds. Additionally, Adam Iza admitted to stealing over $37 million between 2020 and 2022 through fraudulent access to Meta's business manager accounts and credit lines. Federal prosecutors are seeking at least 14 years in prison at his sentencing. (fortune)
