The Sandbox co-founder's wife survives kidnapping attempt in France, suspects arrested
Odaily Odaily reported that Sebastien Borget, co-founder and COO of The Sandbox, faced a kidnapping attempt targeting his wife this week at their home in Villenoy, Seine-et-Marne, France. One suspect disguised as a delivery person, and when the victim opened the door, five other hooded accomplices rushed in and tried to forcibly push her into a vehicle. After neighbors heard screams and intervened, the suspects fled. Police later intercepted a ride-hailing vehicle, arresting two suspects, Mateo V. and Walid H., and seizing replica pistols, zip ties, and masks.
According to data from the French General Directorate of Judicial Police, since January 1, 2026, France has recorded 41 kidnapping or attempted kidnapping cases related to cryptocurrencies. Since 2023, a cumulative total of 135 such cases have been recorded, accounting for nearly 80% of similar cases in Europe. (theblock)
