US Media: US Intelligence Shows Iran Rapidly Rebuilding Military Capabilities, Still Poses a Major Threat if Bombing Campaign is Renewed

2026-05-21 07:20

Odaily Odaily reports, citing CNN, two sources familiar with US intelligence assessments stated that Iran has resumed some drone production during the six-week ceasefire that began in early April, indicating that Iran is rapidly rebuilding certain military capabilities damaged by US and Israeli strikes.

Four sources stated that US intelligence indicates the Iranian military is rebuilding at a pace much faster than initial estimates. The sources indicated that the reconstruction of Iran's military capabilities, including replacing missile positions, launch units, and key weapons system production capacity destroyed in the conflict, means that if Trump restarts bombing operations, Iran will still pose a major threat to regional allies. This also raises questions about the extent to which US and Israeli strikes can weaken Iran's military capabilities over the long term.

A US official revealed that while the timelines for restarting production of different weapons components vary, some US intelligence estimates suggest Iran could fully rebuild its drone attack capability within six months. "The Iranians have exceeded all timelines set by the intelligence community for rebuilding," the US official said. (Jinshi Data)
