Trump: Doesn't Care Whether Powell Stays on as Governor

Powell's term as Fed Chair will end on May 15, but his term as a governor will not expire until 2028. He has expressed his intention to "continue serving as a governor for an undetermined period." On the other hand, Kevin Warsh is expected to receive full Senate approval before Powell's term ends, while Powell's continued tenure could complicate Trump's efforts to reshape the Fed. Asked whether he plans to take any action regarding Powell's decision to remain as a governor, Trump replied, "No, I don't care whether he stays on. I just want to ensure Kevin can take this position."
