Odaily reports that the U.S. Senate has unanimously passed a resolution (S. Res. 708), banning senators from participating in prediction market trading, effective immediately. The bill, proposed by Bernie Moreno, aims to curb speculative trading using non-public information.

Several recent related incidents have triggered regulatory attention, including cases where individuals profited from prediction markets using confidential information. Meanwhile, platforms like Kalshi and Polymarket are also strengthening internal controls to prevent insider trading.

At the state level, New York and Illinois have also introduced similar measures, restricting public officials from using non-public information to participate in prediction markets.
