The statement pointed out that as a major coastal state with territorial waters in the Strait of Hormuz, Iran holds the legitimate right to take necessary and proportionate measures in response to emerging security threats. The Iranian side emphasized that these measures are intended to ensure navigational safety and prevent the Strait of Hormuz from being used for hostile or military purposes. The statement accused the illegal actions of the United States of endangering international navigation safety.
