Tether Develops New Modular Bitcoin Mining Infrastructure to Control Costs and Efficiency

2026-04-28 13:20

Odaily Planet Daily News: According to official sources, Tether is expanding its custom computing infrastructure through a new type of modular, high-density mining system, aimed at improving the efficiency and performance of large-scale operations. By collaborating with Canaan Inc. and ACME Swisstech, Tether is building systems around specific application-specific hash board modules, integrating them into its self-developed control architecture, thermal management system, and software stack.

This system separates computing from power supplies and enclosures, allowing each component to be optimized independently and reducing energy consumption when combined with immersion cooling technology. Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino stated that the move aims to change the current state of sealed, fixed mining equipment. By deploying modular computing units that can be independently tuned, upgraded, and cooled, the company can directly control the cost and efficiency of large-scale operations. Canaan Inc. Chairman and CEO Zhang Nangeng stated that their Avalon hash board modules enable more flexible on-demand deployment, particularly improving efficiency and reducing operational complexity in immersion cooling systems. This deployment builds upon Tether's previously developed open-source Mining Operating System (MOS) and Mining Software Development Kit (SDK).
