rsETH Event Creates ~68,900 ETH Shortfall, Multiple Parties Donate 13,500 ETH

2026-04-24 00:23

According to monitoring by crypto analyst EmberCN @EmberCN, the rsETH incident has created a shortfall of approximately 68,900 ETH, worth about $160 million. This shortfall was formed after the attacker borrowed 99,600 ETH by staking rsETH as collateral, minus the 30,700 ETH frozen and recovered on Arbitrum.

The relevant ETH has now been converted into BTC, and the incident has entered the recovery phase. Aave has coordinated the establishment of "DeFi United" for fund recovery, with multiple parties providing approximately 13,500 ETH in support. This includes 2,500 stETH from Lido, 5,000 ETH from ether.fi, 5,000 ETH from Aave founder Stani Kulechov, 1,000 ETH from Golem Foundation, with some other institutions not disclosing specific amounts.
