Paradigm-backed project Succinct launches ZCAM, an iPhone camera app to prevent AI-generated forgery

2026-04-23 22:11

Odaily reported that Succinct Labs, backed by Paradigm, has launched an iPhone camera app called ZCAM, which generates "digital fingerprints" for photos and videos using cryptographic technology to counter the risk of forgery posed by AI-generated content (AIGC).

ZCAM signs the image at the moment of capture, creating an immutable record and binding the content to the capturing device, allowing users to independently verify whether the footage comes from a real device, has been tampered with, or was generated by AI.

Unlike solutions that rely on AI detection, Succinct takes a hardware-level approach, generating a unique cryptographic signature for each shot. The company states that existing AI detection tools are prone to failure, while this method improves the reliability of authenticity verification.

Similar projects include World, which reduces risks by distinguishing between real humans and AI identities.
