L2 tokens are coming.
Ryan existexistIn last week's article
pointed out that L2 tokens are inevitable. To fully decentralize and compete with alt-L1, networks like zkSync, Optimism, Arbitrum, and StarkWare will need to launch native tokens.
Ryan predicts that these aggregates will start distributing tokens in late 2022 to 2023.
Why? Because L2s still have many technical hurdles before deploying tokens to govern their networks.
Based on Ryan's predictions, this gives us nearly a full year to process the various rollups and accumulate any eligibility criteria that each rollup team will use to distribute native tokens.
For William, this standard will primarily take the form of:

This is an incredible article as it comprehensively explains why and how the L2 project launched with a native token for decentralization.
It’s worth noting that in the post, Wang also speculates a rough timeline outlining when the “big four” Rollups projects will launch their own tokens. To this end, he predicts:
“I believe Rollups tokens will arrive sometime in late 2022 and 2023 in the following order: zkSync (confirmed) -> StarkNet (no comment) -> Arbitrum -> (no comment) -> Optimism (publicly denied). "
I'm certainly not an L2 expert at Wang's level. But I've spent a lot of time researching the L2 ecosystem, and from everything I've seen so far, his predictions here seem perfectly reasonable and fit the bill.
To sum up, I think a good way to get the most out of L222 and get ready for the L2 Token Season is to follow Wang's blueprint and participate as a user in the four major rollups, such as:
1) Make transactions on these L2s
2) Use their dapp
3) Use a bridge
4) Build a new L2 dapp
