Market attention on x402 has decreased compared to before. However, the actual data from last month is still noteworthy. Considering it's still in its early stages, these figures are quite positive. According to data from BlockRunAI, the total number of transactions in December was approximately 63 million; the total transaction value was around $7.5 million; there were roughly 64,000 unique buyers; approximately 10,000 unique sellers; the average transaction amount was $0.12; there were over 1,100 unique projects; and there were 6 active Facilitators, including PayAI and Coinbase. x402 transactions primarily occurred on the Base network and the Solana network. Furthermore, regarding pricing, 76% of service costs were ≤ $0.10; the optimal range was $0.01–$0.10 (69%). Median: $0.01. Service categories were dominated by Data Services (31%), AI/LLM (25%); Blockchain (15%); Utilities (12%); Trading (6%); and Search & Others (5% each). Some transactions were non-organic (leaderboard manipulation). (BlockRunAI data) Currently, x402 faces several challenges: trust mechanisms are not yet mature, posing risks of fraud/spam behavior/fragmented discovery within the AI agent economy, among others. Overall, x402's micro-payment ecosystem is at a very early stage but is already showing signs of development, particularly in its potential to drive the growth of the AI agent economy. Current shortcomings in areas like discovery and trust represent opportunities for developers and builders. For example, regarding trust and AI agent discovery issues, previously mentioned projects like xgate from dreams are also attempting to address this by providing services. Through agent ranking, similar to machine-to-machine search matching, it helps agents dynamically discover x402 resources and agents registered via ERC-8004. ERC-8004 is also coming soon.
