Odaily News, U.S. Treasury Department data shows that foreign investors' holdings of U.S. Treasury securities decreased from $9.371 trillion in May to $9.299 trillion in June, a month-over-month decline of approximately $72 billion, mainly driven by reductions from Japan, the United Kingdom, and China, but still up 2.3% year-over-year.
Among them, Japan's U.S. Treasury holdings fell 2.3% month-over-month to $1.116 trillion in June, still ranking first among overseas holders; the United Kingdom's holdings declined 1% to $939.9 billion. In June, net capital inflows on a transaction basis for U.S. Treasuries were only $6.8 billion, down from $56.6 billion in May. (Reuters)
