Hackers breach Kenyan president's official website demanding 5 BTC ransom, law enforcement launches investigation

Attackers briefly paralyzed the site and defaced the homepage, demanding a ransom of 5 Bitcoin. William Kabogo, Cabinet Secretary of the Kenyan Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy, stated that Kenyan law enforcement agency ICT Authority has immediately activated a cybersecurity response protocol and will temporarily restrict public access to the portal. Officials said there is currently no evidence of unauthorized access to sensitive data, data leaks, or information loss, and government systems and digital services remain secure.
