Odaily Planet Daily News: The Russian State Duma will hold the second and third readings of the cryptocurrency regulation bill on Tuesday. The bill, titled "Digital Currency and Digital Rights," includes regulations for investors and rules related to cross-border payments.
The bill proposes restrictions for non-qualified investors, including an annual cap of 300,000 rubles (approximately $3,800) on cryptocurrency purchases through a single intermediary and a cap of 100,000 rubles on overseas transfers. For qualified investors, the purchase limit is 3 million rubles, and the overseas transfer limit is 1 million rubles.
If the bill is approved, Russia will establish a legal framework for crypto activities, covering rules for investors and cross-border trade operations. The main provisions of the bill are expected to take effect on September 1, and companies supplying goods to Russia will be allowed to use crypto assets.
