Odaily Planet Daily News Zcash has launched a new full node called Zakura, maintained by a team independent of the Zcash Foundation, released as a trimmed, fast-sync branch of Zebra, and compatible with the legacy zcashd client. This client will reach its end-of-life on July 18.
Zakura is part of Zcash's scaling efforts, working in conjunction with Project Tachyon and private information retrieval research. The goal is to increase network throughput to the level of Visa and Mastercard by reducing validation data and eliminating wallet performance bottlenecks.
Zakura also supports the Ironwood (NU6.3) upgrade, which will be activated on July 28. This upgrade introduces a turnstile mechanism to limit withdrawals from the Orchard shielded pool and control the creation of counterfeit ZEC that could result from a long-standing soundness bug.
