South Korean Media: Samsung Secretly Studies Feasibility of US Listing, Company Previously Denied Related Plans

2026-07-15 06:42

Odaily Planet Daily News According to South Korean media Bloter, citing sources, Samsung Electronics has begun internal research on various plans to issue ADRs in the United States and has started evaluating the relevant operational procedures. Bloomberg reported on July 14 that Samsung Electronics had held preliminary discussions with multiple investment banks regarding a US listing via ADR. Samsung Electronics responded that it had no plans to list on the US market through an ADR issuance.

However, market insiders believe that Samsung Electronics' denial this time does not necessarily mean the possibility of a future ADR issuance has been completely ruled out. Despite the company's denial, under management instructions, the relevant business departments have begun evaluating the potential costs, benefits, and required procedures for issuing ADRs.

A semiconductor industry source revealed on July 15 that the company's management recently requested relevant departments to study whether a feasible structure suitable for the company's ADR issuance could be designed. As part of this research, Samsung Electronics personnel have sought information from SK Hynix, which recently completed an ADR issuance and listed on the Nasdaq. (Jin Shi)
