Iran confirms Qatar delegation visit, demands explanation regarding Hormuz Strait allegations

Odaily Planet Daily News A Qatari political delegation arrived in Iran today for consultations with Iranian officials. Qatar's visit to Iran aims to solidify its position as a mediator.

However, Qatar previously leveled accusations against Iran regarding an incident in the Strait of Hormuz. Subsequently, the US military launched a large-scale attack on a series of Iranian military and civilian targets on Wednesday and Thursday. A spokesperson for our Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed regret over Qatar's accusations, calling them "questionable, contrary to the principles of good neighborliness, and unacceptable."

Therefore, Qatar should explain during this visit: why, despite being fully aware of Article 5 of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, it still attempted to cooperate with the US to bypass the shipping routes designated by Iran, and why it was so eager to accuse Iran without any prior communication with Tehran.
